I can't get anywhere there.
I've talked to everyone and as far as I know, been to every house.
What's this observatory the walkthru talks about?

The observatory is found at the top of Cosmo Canyon, where Red XIII's grandad (the floating guy called Bugenhagen if I remember rightly) is. What does Bugenhagen say to you when you speak to him at the moment? Just so we have a better idea of what part of the Cosmo Canyon story-bit you're up to.

I can't find Red XIII.
How can I get to the top? And I don't remember seeing Bugenhagen.

There should be some ladders on the second floor to get to the observatory go in and if you can`t find red or bugenhagen try leaving and coming back.

First of all, I can't seem to leave.
And second, second floor of what?

Have you found the materia shop? Or the library?

If memory serves me correctly, then there should be a path leading to the second floor north west of the entrance to Cosmo Canyon.

Can't believe I was so stupid, I didn't realize there was a path that took to the left from the upstairs of that store....
