Political Talking Heads
What's your take on Political Talking Heads on TV, the O'Reilly's, the Limbaughs, The Frankens, The Carvells, and the like?
I think they have forever changed politics for the worst, especially in this country as its basically become a shouting match and trying to trump the other side with their own bluster and ego, instead of working to move forward and bridge the gap between the differences on either side.

I dislike how they spew skewed reality to push their own agenda instead of even making an ATTEMPT to deliver real, valid commentary.
I don't think they're a good thing, but I don't know if they've "changed" anything. You can find famous orators all the way back through history. Look at Antony in Julius Caesar (first and last time I ever reference Shakespeare *shudder*). People are more easily swayed by charisma or emotional babble than by truth sometimes.
I hate them and wish they would stop doing what they do. Because they make me cry.

Point taken, though I'd say with the advent of TV it's allowed for this sort of thing to become even more powerful. Also, the other problem is that they all appear under the guise of "News", instead of opinion. Opinion does not always equal news or truth, as everyone has alluded to.

They annoy me on the occasional instances that I actually see/hear them. They're the #1 reason I stopped watching television completely.

I dunno. I always seem to agree with O'Reilly and isagree vehemently with Franken and such...
I think it's nice to hear people who have the same beliefs and ideals that I do on tv. Like we have political allies and enemies. Because, after all, we do.
As far as actual persuasiveness of these characters, well, I doubt that they really have any. I mean, uh... I'm a believer in that nature has far more to do with character than nurture. So I'd say that we believe what we believe based on our experiences applied to our inherent beliefs which are rooted in our general intelligences and genes.
What I mean to say is that Al Franken is an imbecile and equally a jerk. And when his followers are burning in Hell, it won't be his fault at all. So it doesn't matter what he says or what I think of him at any rate.
I suppose, what I'm getting at, is they've, along with many blunders by other folk, have seemed to put America into this rut of division since both sides openly distain the other. The longer we just ignore what the other side has to say, the shorter our turn as any form of Superpower or power at all in the world will be.

Like it or not, it's the exact same with O'Reilly. He is a moron, no doubt, and the things he says are retarted. Personally, I think these people are bad. Politics becomes nothing but an insult fest, and nobody can say anything intelligent, tell the truth, or do anything even remotely productive.
