    Default G-Military

I'm just curious but, being in the G-Military , why are Laguna , Kiros and Ward allowed to carry their own weapons ? ie. MG , Harpoon and Katals ( or something ... ) instead of the standard Galbadian sword. I know it's for the sake of their individual characteristics and keeping them unique from the average Galbadian grunt( it'd just be boring to have them all with swords) , but I'm assuming that under normal circumstances soldiers would rarely be allowed to carry weapons other than those supplied to them.

Most of the time you are with them thier missions take place in the wilderness. (Crashed Lunatic Pandora, Woods, Mountains) Far enough away form people who can bust 'em. I'm sure when their superiors are around they grab their standard issue swords.

How do we know they weren't some kind of battle specialists in the military? For instance, Galbadia Garden feeds students into the G military, and their SeeD canidates have thier own weapons specialities, just like those at Balamb and Trabia. Now, I know Laguna was before Gardens and everything, but perhaps the G Army had specialist policies long before Garden began training soldiers as well. We have no idea what exactly Laguna's position was in the army, but he seemed to go on very important/dangerous missions (i.e. Lunatic Pandora), and never seemed to really have to report directly to another commander, so he may have had more say on what to fight with then just your entry-level G Soldier.

In war, soldiers often adobt to their own weapons, often stolen from enemies etc. WWII, allied soldiers often threw away their M1 Carbines & used the Germanm MP40's & in Vietnam US soldiers often used the AK47 & even un-commissioned shotguns, so no, it's not totally Alien for soldiers to use un-commissioned weapons. Especially in the field.

True , though if indeed they were specialists , would they not be allowed special priveleges like eg. reservations at the Deling Hotel, special tech./transport etc. ? And they didn't really seem intelligent enough ( bar Kiros) to occupy special positions in the army.

I don't recall seeing any proof that they didn't have special privileges, such as reservations, etc. We don't really see evidence that they don't (unless I'm forgetting something, which is possible). And I recall them having their own transport vehicle in one of the forrest scenes if I'm not mistaken.

And although Laguna comes off as a goof, he and the others seem pretty compeitant as leaders/fighters - I mean, Laguna and company did defeat (SPOILER)Sorceress Adel, end the Sorceress War, and became the leaders of the entire advanced country that is Esthar. So they can't be that stupid. You really can't judge the guy just cause he's a complete wimp with women. LOL

Don't forgett, carbines were also swapped for the super rare and desireable thompsons, ganked from the corpses of fallen comrades.

You make a valid point, case closed.
