Default Zee Phantom of zee Opera

Last weekend my wife and I and another couple went to see the new Phantom of the Opera movie. Now I'm not much of a theatre/play guy, but I really enjoyed the movie. Has anyone else seen it? What did you think?

I love stage shows. I've seen the Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Fame and Return to the Forbidden Planet but I have to say, I was bored out of my mind during the screen production of Phantom of the Opera. If I hear the Phantom reprise one more time I may harm those in close proximity. I didn't enjoy Chicago much on scree either. I am now a firm believer that stage musicals should stay on stage and keep off the screen. Some of the sets looked really articficial to me, which obviously they are, and on stage I would expect that, but on screen I expect a certain degree of realism which the Phantom didn't provide for me. I know plenty of people who have enjoyed the film very much but for me it was a failed attempt at bringing musical theatre to the bgi screen.

    One big yawn.

Read to original book too, its pretty good. If your to cheep its all here:

I want to see the movie myself but meh Ill wait. The Chandiler didnt seem fake to me, for the reason it was REAL and cost 1.4 million quid to make the main real one.
The Book goes into great detail of WHY he haunts the opera, how and the details of Eriks life.

I'm not even going to try and ruin what I saw on stage by watching a copy on the big screen.

My friend really loved it, and has been pushing me to go see it, but I'm not sure I want to. For one, I'm not a fan of musicals. I think they're silly, and whenever they break into song, I find it fairly annoying. Blegh. I don't know...I'll probably end up renting it months from now; even if I wanted to see it, I probably couldn't get anyone to go with me now. Lazies!

    I loved it.

It was an incredible experience. One of my only complaints with the film was that there were a little too many scenes between Raoul and Christine. The main focus of the film was supposed to be Erik's obsession with Christine.

Two scenes in particular, that I thought were outstanding though, were

(SPOILER)When Erik first led Christine by the hand to his house on the lake

    and

Erik overhearing Raoul and Christine atop of Apollo's Lyre.

Very good movie. I'd much recommend it to anyone.

To hell with Battletoads and Double Dragon.
    THIS is the ultimate team.

I've seen it and I thought it was great. The music and the singing was brilliant, especially Emmy Rossum blowed my mind with her singing abilities (Especially when you think about that she was only 17 at the time the movie was made).

I advice you read the book, its a very good book. (The original not the girly stage adaptation.) The Phantom is a pretty snazzy movie, but not true to the book.
