I was wondering,on the Ps2 version are you able to playtwo players(like bring a guest on your account) like on X-Box live. My brother and I don't know if we want it for our birthday or not.We need to know if we are both able to play together with separate characters on the same account.

This isn't a chat room, it takes people time to notice that there's a new thread to answer.
You actually can't play two characters at the same time on the same console, but you can have multiple characters. Your regular monthly fee is $12.95 USD/month, and each additional character is $1 / month. If you have two PS2s or a PS2 and a PC, one of you can play on the PS2 and the other on the PC and play together at the same time that way. If you each want a separate character to play at different times, you will only need 1 PS2 and one copy of the game.

It's a bloody fine game, but with 2 of you, you should have 2 copies to play on 2 PS2s or a PS2 and a PC. Otherwise you'll wind up fighting about who gets to play. I tend to play in 5-6 hour spurts, but that's necessary once you get in the 40s and above.
