If both of them proceeded to verbally abuse the Asian DJ who objected and commented that they were going to "start shooting Asians" I believe that that is suitable grounds for them losing their jobs.

I get so tired of white people thinking that just because their white they get accused of racism more often then any other race. I call my parents racist all the time and their black and puerto rican.

Anyways yeh i think that this was an extremely bad call this was the reason that the FCC was created, and whther or not they should be fired... i dont know, they apologized it was a joke of bad taste... hmm maybe

Well, I should hope "chink" doesn't offend you, since it has nothing to do with Blacks. It's aimed at Asians.

Racial slurs of any kind offend me, and I'm pretty white. I don't really care who anybody is, no one should be able to refer to anyone by a term that belittles them unnecessarily. Slurs based on gender, sexual orientation, and physical handicaps are exactly the same.

    Signature by rubah. I think.

Marsh wasn't even poking fun at the Tsunami, he was making fun of David Beckham.

Give 'em hell. From the lyrics of that song, the radio station deserves what hell they get. And I imagine that so much hell's gonna be raised, Satan's gonna say, "Hey, how'd I get up here?"

I doubt the DJ's would get fired and if they did, I think that might be wrong. Before you start throwing things at me and calling me names let me explain why I feel this way.

I'm going to admit it. I have been guilty of making a few racial slurs with my friends. I do have a lot of Asian friends and I have been known to 'make fun' of them as friends do by using racial slurs. It was always in good fun and I was always sure to make sure they knew it was in good fun when I did it.

Now, I'm not saying that the DJ's playing the song was justified in any way- nor am I saying that the song is funny in any shape or manner. But neither am I surprised by either- the DJ's playing it or the song being created. I've seen and heard a lot of racial bashing songs making fun of an array of ethnicities. Though I stopped to put myself in the DJ's situation. As we all know- a large percentage of America's population lack common sense. The song- to us- is horrible because of how it was presented to us. Imagine for a moment that you're having fun with a friend, nothing really serious going on at the moment, and a song like that comes on.

Funny right? Yeah you know its wrong and it's bad, but it's funny right now. I've heard songs like that where I laughed about it and maybe we carried on about it for a little to long- but when you look back later you think... oh maybe that was dumb and mean.

Now, I'm giving the DJ's a benefit of the doubt that they actually FEEL bad about what they did. They're probably kicking themselves in the ass because it was a really stupid thing to do- ESPECIALLY on public radio- and now they look and feel like jackholes for doing it. Not only that- their job is on the line. What can they do? They apologize.

While they needed to I'm glad that they did. I know a lot of DJ's on radio stations that would have just brushed it off because they were too prideful to admit they were wrong and stupid for it. No matter how many people complained- in fact it happened a year or so, and I still dont' think he apologized for what he did and yes, he's still working as a DJ.

While what they did was very rude and unthoughtful- they did apologize. I don't know what more we can ask of them.

I'm torn between many opinions here. I hate the FCC, but I can see how they're needed here. The song was mean-spirited and racist, but I can see meanpeoplesucks's point about laughing at something even if you know it's something you shouldn't laugh at. The DJs behavior was pretty rude, and definately uncalled for.

I think the station should be fined for airing the song repeatedly. I don't think the station should be boycotted, since it was just two DJs and another DJ tried to put a stop to it. (Why risk putting the station out of business and hurting the honest employees who had nothing to do with it?) The two DJs responsible, however, should be fired for repeatedly airing it and for verbally attacking the other DJ.

As for how anyone could find the song funny... well, I don't agree with it in the slightest, and I don't find it funny. But at the same time, I can see the potential for someone finding it funny, if that someone is a mean, racist SOB who thinks the Asians "got what they deserved" in the tsunami. Do you get what I mean?

And we sneak a call And we're like thieves I love the times like these Just don't say goodbye Just won't you please I'm trying to do the right thing
