ok, i need help quick im finally getting to play my ffxi for the first time in forever and i was wondering how i raise my rank so i can unlock new missions, because im a rank 2 in sandoria but i have to have a higher "standing" to get my next mission. plz help. and also, this is off topic but does anyone know if Dawn of Souls has a better save system than Origins? just wondering.

You should try trading crystals (earth, water, fire, wind, whatever) to the gate gaurd, and just keep doing that until a new mission is available.

the gate guard or the guy i get missions from?

You trade crystals in. Or do more of the same missions you have already done.
Your soon about to do the Dragon one ^^ that one is fun even though I havent done it for myself. But saw it being done by a friend of mine.

What Omecle means is the RK or TK guards, trade crystals to them.
It's Temple Knights, I don't think you can trade crystals to the Royal Knights.
(TKs are the ones in San d'Oria itself, whereas RKs are the ones out in the regions where monsters roam)
You trade the crystals to the guards that give you Signet.
(And as for your DoS question, you can save anywhere out of battle)

Ive been sent ot the outpost in windrus I dont know how many times. What I gotta do to be sent on a mission. Im in Windrust and Im not even sure if I can give in crystals at my rank if I even have one.
Rank 2 is the rank were you can start turning in crystals for rank points.
Well yeah, rank 2 for donating crystals and also you are talking to the wrong person to do quests, you're just going on supply quests I think. Anyways the gate gaurd in Windurst Woods is the Mithra on the left of the gate.Originally Posted by Destai
