I can't comprehend why Square would put so much effort into revamping the gameplay so much (effectively keeping the series from becoming stale, or giving it a rebirth, if you will) for the next game in the series, if they had no intentions to develop future installments.
Anythings possible, but I've heard of no such announcement. I'll keep my ears open.
Theres no truth to that, or it would be all over Square's website.
