I'm playing ff9 and my game freezes up 2nd disk right after starting the 1st battle with the guard (steiner and marcus in big cage). does anyone have a save state right after this part so i can continue play?

have you tried cleaning the disk? check for scratches, try ethyl alcohol or any other disk cleaning solution, if all else fails, get it professionally resurfaced. some places will do it the first time for free.

This happened to me after I got my game back from the person who had borrowed it (for nearly two years). I couldn't get into a certain area in Treno during Disk 3, and I had to borrow my friend's copy to get any further.

I'd suggest investing in a Disk Doctor or some such device to resurface your old disks, if several of them give you trouble. If it's not a big problem, or if you don't want to spend the money, you can try to find a friend to lend you his/her copy, like I did.

Is it more money to clean them or to just buy a new one? FFIX can be cheap these days.
