    This band has expired

I've noticed that sometimes, a band I used to like I don't like anymore. I know, this is normal, but what I'm wondering is: when this happens to you, is it because the band now sucks, or has "sold out"? (Think Limp Bizkit and Eminem, respectively.) Or is it "not you, it's me"--the band is still good, but you just don't really care for them any more, they've gotten old and you've found a new artist?

Usually, it's a combination of both for me. I used to like Limp Bizkit (Chocolate Starfish CD), but I could cheerfully sharpen the edges of their newest album and cut Fred Durst's head off with it for trying to do "mellow" songs. However, Linkin Park has stayed "true" to their original style, but it's been years since I actually gave a rat's tail about them.

I hope I'm getting my point across clearly.
I am alive I will never run away Places inside My heart screams inside with pride Once I cried Now I wipe away the tears Once I died Now I'm alive

And we sneak a call And we're like thieves I love the times like these Just don't say goodbye Just won't you please I'm trying to do the right thing

All my life I was in the cold Now I find I feel nothing more Leave me to learn Leave me to hurt Now I'm not so invincible

Limp Bizkit was just terrible from the start. I think Linkin Park sold out when they did that thing with Jay-Z.

Limp Bizkit sucked at the beginning, but they did a great job on Chocolate Starfish (for the most part). Too bad they backtracked from there.

I didn't hear about Linkin Park and Jay-Z. Damn them! And damn Eminem, too, while we're at it!

It's kind of a circle. You'll come around and listen to them again for a while and then die off again for a while. Just part of life, really.

That's happened to me, but it was all crappy pop bands anyway, back in the days when I had awful music tastes.
