I agree that it depends on the forum. For example people coming to an FF forum or any sort of forum for a game won't be coming there for porn and shouldn't need to find any there. However I think it's a great idea for somewhere like The Basement which is a very open and tasteful forum, and since you can only access it with a password, I think that's fine.
Sure doesn't make sense to me. But then, porn in general doesn't make sense to me.
I'd say porn forums are a terrible idea.

Well, porn's a really low artform. But an artform nonetheless. Put it in a forum and you get dense brained people who are looking for some deviant stimulation.. together.. ehhh.. *cringes*

As eest, Mandee and Xander have said, The Basement has one, but we also have a small enough membership that it hasn't been abused in any way. It hasn't attracted any unsavory new members, and is hardly posted in compared to some of the discussion forums.
My opinion? For a forum like EoFF, it would be way off-base. For an already adult-topic board, who cares if they have it or not. Contrary to common belief, porn is not the root of all evil or any such thing. *shrugs*
Yes you guys are just overreacting about porn. Porn is just arousing one part of your brain, sex. Should you see something like a Renasance(bah spelling -_-) painting you are arousing a different part of your brain. The reason why i feel sex is so barred is because of religion and different cultures not accepting it. Which i say to them if it bothers you that much then dont have it...ever. They do attract sometimes wierd people to you, but nonetheless they have a interest and i have been on some adult boards (yes i do, so what?) where they do have legit conversations with the right admin and staff policing things. People have a legit community and sometimes i think they even start out relationships online because of it.
Everyone has different interests and fetishes, i am sure we are all freaks :P I dont think it degrades the forum, depending on the staff i would say it is even more different and expands people into something that isnt accepted in the general public in which i feel we should. I dont feel we should be so shy and so taboo to talk about sex in any little form it has. Its just illogical if you think of it.

The entire group of new members at FG, together, couldn't manage as much maturity as someone at The Basement. Not even Joel.
Porn forums would suggest a lack of maturity in the board's members, and are therefore a sign that you probably won't get much decent discussion. The presence of a porn forum wouldn't stop me going to a website by any means, but it would probably affect my opinion of it.

I feel that you guys are just generalizing it, it depends on the community. Some of you guys like to spam and feed off each other's spam and create nonsense, thats the type of community this forum has. Doesnt mean other forums wont. Theres no flames here, while another flames are perfectly acceptable. It depends on the staff and community. For those of you saying its bad, have you actually been on one of those forums before? and how many?
