They don't offend me... but yes, it's hard to breath when they are around.
I think it depends on the concentration of smoke thats surrounding me. If they're making an adequate effort to try and avoid me smelling like a pile of tar for the rest of the day then i don't mind it in the slightest. Some smokers have a habit of seemingly trying to get you to inhale almost as much as they are though, and that's annoying. In small concentrations, i kinda like the smell of cigarette smoke.

It offends me if someone is inconsiderate enough to smoke around me while I eat, or smoke in a place where smoking is forbidden like Buses, trains, some restaurants etc. I don't have a problem with smokers but I do have a problem with inconsiderate smokers.

The same thing happens every day - I'll be stood at the bus stop with about ten other people, and a yob will come along, spit on the floor, put up his hood and light up a cigarette. In my opinion, smoking outdoors is completely inconsiderate, and should be completely banned. If people want to give themselves cancer, then let them do it in their own homes without damaging the public who are forced to inhale some of the smoker's toxic fumes.

I agree with Dr. K. I don't mind a bit if it's outside because I actually like the smell in small does, but when it's in a room with even only one or two smokers I get a burning throat and sore eyes, etc. You also end up smelling like an ashtray, which is really noticable by non-smokers.
All of the smokers that I know do not smoke indoors, even in their own home. They always go outside to do their thing, even in the winter cold and rain that we always have here so none of them are bothersome to me.

Yep. Having people smoke around me isn't offensive, but it sure as heck is extremely annoying and obnoxious of the people to be doing such a thing. They may want to reduce their life expectancy, but I don't want them doing it around me. It's especially bad in school bathrooms. I've been to two high schools and I guaran-damn-tee you that the bathrooms(boys and girls) are always smelling like smoke. It's bad enough that people urinate on the floors, but to have to actually breathe in smoke while doing my business is annoying.

Outdoors it doesn't bother me too much, but indoors it's pretty irritating, since there's no way to escape the noxious smell, aside from standing up and leaving, which draws too much attention for my liking. Fortunately this situation doesn't come up as often as it might seem, so it's not a huge issue for me.

it bugs me when peple complain about smokers when there in general open plan areas such as parks, pubs ect. I don't smoke but if someone complained about my friends smoking i'd light one up just to annoy them. The effects of passive smoking are massively exaggerated anyway.
