Ultima is the most powerful spell in FF Land. It's a nonelemental attack that usually takes somewhere from 80-100 MP.

It's sometimes overrated (like in Final Fantasy Tactics), but definately good for wiping out moderately strong groups of enemies.
Are you trying to ask what it is in terms of logic? For example, Fire is flames appearing magically to toast your enemies. Is that what you're getting at?

Depends on which game you're playing, but it's generally a huge dome of energy.

I like the FF7 style Ultima; big green ball of exploding energybut as abrojtm said it depends on which game you are playing. But yes huge ammount of energy directed straight at the enemy, then it exploding.
