Thread: Lent

  1. #1

    Default Lent

It has come to my attention that the time of Lent is upon us, Lent is the 40 days and nights that Jesus went without food (I think). So do you plan on giving anything up? Me and 2 friends have decided to give up food (XD i'll last an hour) and (SPOILER)masturbation.

    Discuss.

De nada. And man, I love peppers, that would suck. I think I'll stick with the usual - faith.

I've never bothered with Lent my whole life. I don't see the point to giving something up except to benefit you, like if you're on a diet or something and you give up ice cream.

I wonder why people would fast themselves over a deity that might not have existed.

That said, no, I'm not really giving up anything save for not eating as many fatty foods as I have before.

I've never given anything up for Lent before, but maybe I will this year. Any ideas for what I could give up? (And if anybody says "masturbation" I'll kick them in the head.) :rolleyes2

Not that I'm making any promises, but if someone has a good idea, maybe I'll give something up.

And we sneak a call And we're like thieves I love the times like these Just don't say goodbye Just won't you please I'm trying to do the right thing

All my life I was in the cold Now I find I feel nothing more Leave me to learn Leave me to hurt Now I'm not so invincible

The purpose of Lent is giving up something you really like. So just think of something you like and do to the point of excess. If I practised Lent, I'd give up the internet or punk shows or RPing. But I dont, so I shant.

Graves - Doesnt that go for anything? Why do anything for someone that might not have existed? Faith. Cause it's what we care about. Simple.

I think I'll do the opposite of Lent and indulge twice as much in the things I like. Double the fattening foods, double the videogames, double the amount of EZ cheese coated cracker crumbs all over my disgusting stretchmark ridden stomach bulging out from underneath my faded "I'm a super duper programmer!" shirt. I'll call it Defer.

    Defer kicks ass.

I've never participated in Lent. I wouldn't even know what to give up. It would have to be something meaningful, but the only things I could think of are things that would probably cause me to not function very well in the rest of me life for a good 30 of 40 days.

Jesus better be happy, I'm pouring my heart into Defer.

This is for you big guy.

Until people start giving up stuff for all the other people who had to endure extensive hardass conditions, I'm not bothering, and never have.
