You do know that the story about the baby tossed from the car was a hoax, right? The lady who 'found' the baby turned out to be it's mother, who is now undergoing psychiatric evaluation...as for the rest, I just can't comprehend how anyone would want to harm a child that young.

Yeah I read it on google news this morning. She had the baby in secret and made up the story probably in the hopes that she'd be still able to keep him without her family finding out about her pregnancy. Luckily several people have requested to offer the baby a home.

I, for one, am glad for this to be on the news. I'm no more happy reading about it than anyone else. I wish it never occured in the first place. But the TRUTH is that it happens. And it can happen ANYWHERE. And as long as we know that, we know we should be aware of it. Leave these things out of the news for a year, and most would have all but forgotten about it.
Knowlege is the cure for ignorance. And would you believe that the act of rape/molestation rarely buys the attacker any more than 20 years in prison. (USA). It used to be around 10. Public awareness forced the law to change, and close to doubled the numbers. By the current trend, it should be doubled again soon. Personally, I won't be happy until the executioner shoves a small handgun up the bastard's rectum and pulls the trigger. I'd like a bigger gun, just for effect, but a small one won't kill immediately. And I like the idea of them dying slowly in a pool of their own filth.
And the cases of 'away for life' and 'death penalty' only apply if the attacker tries to kill the victem (regardless of success).

Ahh more proof supporting Thomas Hobbes. He was an Enlightenment thinker who thought that humans are naturally depraved brutes.
