I'd definitely recommend Shadow Hearts. If you can get Shadow Hearts or Shadow Hearts: Covenant, I'd say go for it. Another RPG would be Suikoden III and IV, really great RPG's. Not quite like Final Fantasy though, I'd say they're a lot better.

Star Ocean 3 is okay, but I'm not sure if you'll like it.
