So, if you had the first pick, who'd you take?

    Take care all.

I think it's Pujols and it's a no brainer. But hey, don't listen to me, I've only won the thing twice.

I agree, but his foot injury might scare some people away.

    Take care all.

More precisely, his heel. It's been reported that he is suffering from chronic plantar fasciitis in his left heel. It's not serious, but it may plague him all season. Still, he could probably hit .330 and drive in 100 on one heel.

    Take care all.

Well I hope that scares people and allows me to pick him. Probably won't though.

I've been viewing a lot of mock drafts held by "experts" and all of them seem to think that pitchers come a dime a dozen, at least, that's the impression I get.

    Take care all.

Pitchers can only help your team every fifth day. That's my beef with them, and the next lesson. One good game out of some scrappy hitter won't make much difference, but one good start out of some streaky pitcher can get you through a week.

Would you also advocate taking one elite pitcher early and then filling in the other slots as the season goes on? (I think I know your answer already, O King Of the Weekly Waiver Pick Up).

    Take care all.

Last year my weekly waivers didn't do so hot... but I did get decent time out of guys like Wells and Escobar. Anyway, usually I wouldn't, but I think if you can get one of the guys who always do well (like a Johnson or Schilling) you probably can't go wrong. The problem with pitchers is that their funks last a lot longer because they don't play as many games. Hell, even the Arizona boys had off seasons in 03.

Or, they get seriously injured, a la Mark Prior AND Roy Halladay did last year, which makes it tough because they're too good to just drop.

I'm determined to actually make it to this live draft this year, as the past two teams the computer drafted were okay, but lopsided instead of balanced, which is what I strive for.

    Take care all.

looking at mock drafts, pitchers go a LOT later in them than I know they go in our drafts.

Outside of Santana and Johnson, I don't think I saw any other pitchers even close to the first round in any mock drafts, to back your point up Eest.

    Take care all.

yep. i look at these mock drafts and say "wow, I'd love to be able to take player X in round 7" knowing full well someone in our draft will take that player in round 4.
