the problem with fielding percentage is that while it measures fielding skill at a rough level, it isn't always accurate at a more minute level. especially considering how close fielding percentage standings are in a fantasy league, it doesn't seem fair to reward extra points to someone for having a .001 better fielding percentage when that .001 really doesn't mean that team is any better at fielding.
Counting putouts and assists at least penalizes for the use of DH and rewards using players at their real positions. The problem is it overvalues 1st basemen, but I guess it can't be perfect.
