I've really never seen why individuality in battle is so important.

Well I'm six hours into the game, having left off in Sakura's world and I found it isn't as bad as some have lead others to believe. I actually enjoy the battle system and so far, there's been a nice amount of info on issues from Episode I. I'm sure those who want more active gameplay will complain but then they shouldn't have bought a Xeno game if they weren't planning on the game revolving around the story moreso than around battling and running around.
