Default A Way to back-up updates?

    Hello?
I'm on dial up and It took me 10 hours to update Final Fantasy XI and 3 hours to Update Play Online Viewer, which you know, I have to do or I wont be able to play,

so I was wondering, if something went wrong I'll have to go through all that again, isn't there a way to back up the updates? like copy certain files or something ? if there is please share it with me.

    thanks for ur time.

Oh shut up. It took me over 5 hours, and I've got 20 mbits. The download speed never exceeded 6 kb/s.

It took me a few days because MINE KEPT FREEZING AND WE HAD TO CALL SOME 3453 TECH DWEEBS *looksatbleys* TO TELL US HOW TO DO IT RIGHT! And most of them didn't help, then FINALLY one told us how to open some ports or whatever to stop the freeeeeeeeeezing of the updates... then I had to wait like 1 hour or so. *winwin*

20 mbps is approximately T3 line speed. Standard aDSL or a T1 is a theoretical cap of 1.544 mbps, although with Bell we somehow manage to get 3008 kbps (3 mbps) and even 4 mbps for Ultra customers. The Americans have a new fibre-optic technology that allows 5-15 mbps connections, but it's only available in Texas (Verizon, I think)

A 20 mbps connection should run you about $18,000 per month.

How the hell are you getting that kind of speed?

20 Mbits is what I can transfer at on average. The link between the residential area and my uni is 155 Mbits. The uni's got an uplink on 2.5 Gbits.
This connection is included in my rent on about $300 per month. The only good thing about being a student. You are allowed to hate me now.
As far as I know, ADSL can do more than 10 Mbits if you aren't more than a few hundred metres away from the central.
