BTW, what do all you girls see in Squall? He was a jerk. The only way you'd be able to get him to warm up to you is if (SPOILER)you somehow got possessed by a sorcoress. Nothing else would work, as Rinoa's and Quistis' attempts should show you.

Squall wasnt a jerk, he was simply a brooding loner. Most people are wankers, so why open yourself up to them only to be hurt. It showed he had a lack of confidence. Rinoa helped bring him out of that by forcing him to express his feelings. Then he realised that despite most people being pratts, he didnt have to be emotionally repressed.
