The way I always saw it is that we, the people of the United States of America, have the right to own a gun so the government will not step out of line. The right to bear arms isn't to go duck hunting. It's there so if we need guns, for whatever reason, they will be easy to get.Though this is really another topic for another debate, there is a great struggle in this country on where a citizen's rights really stand. The 2nd amendment is the right to own a gun within a standing militia, which to the best of my knowledge means, that you can own a gun when there is fear of invasion and militias are formed in place of a standing army, not the right to own a gun because one can.
