Trouble at Chocobo race!!

I have the PC version off FF7 and i recently install it on my computer that is fuled with Windows XP. It worked for a while but when i get to a certin point in the game it crashed. It is on the same spot every time, namely at your first Chocobo race after you have "killed" Barrets old friend under Gold Saucer. Can anyone help me, iam close to cracking

get a new disc maybe, your other one is obviously broken

The same thing was happening to a friend of mine. According to him, the 8-bit palletted textures under FF7 configuration don't properly work. He's not sure if it's an XP issue or a graphics setting gone wrong, but he transferred his files to an ME computer and finished the chocobo racing part. This happens for every chocobo race, not just the first.

As for what you can do to remedy this, I don't know. I'm speaking from third party experience here. I'm sure someone else knows more about it than me. I've never even played FF7 PC.

I have the PC version. I updated my computer to XP and found the same problem. I thought it was just something wrong with my disc being scratched. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.

i had the same problem

but i found another xp issue in the observatory at cosmo canyon... there isn't a patch, i can't pass that point

Well, at least that is a one time event. Just switch over to a computer with another operating system to get past that point. Messing up at every chocobo race is a bit harder to fix that way.

Now i find a new XP trouble, when you enter the submarine i the underwater reactor. The same happens there as at the chocobo race, the game crashes!

Oh, man. XP issues all over the place with no patch!

Well, what I would do then is use the debug room. That link he gave you takes you to Qhimm's web site, and I think elsewhere on that page is the Jenova save editor. One of the things you can do is go to the debug room. You can use that to try to get around the scenes that crash.

Funny, I have XP and FFVII PC and there's no problem with the races...
In fact, I just got one of my chocobos to reach class A today
