Question on Japanese FF7

I was wondering the differences between the US and Japanese version of FF7. I couldnt find it on the forum, so if anyone knows please shed some light.

suposedly there is a way to (SPOILER)get aeris to live, but tifa dies. i'm testing out the theory myself, not quite to that part of the game yet though.
