"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here this is the War room"
War of any kind almost always brings out the worst in people, be it a just war or not.
Stay safe over there good sir and don't be afraid to report the truth of what is happening, because that is the best weapon there is in the fight against hatred.
Take care all.
Any war where the "invaders" are winning, will be horrible in ways that no one can hope to imagine. Rome poisoned the wells and salted the fields, insuring that anything they lost would be useless for decades. Ancient China had this habit of fighting to the last living person, man or woman. Japan probably would have done the same if we hadn't scared the crap out of them with our atomic weapons.
War doesn't mean horrors. War can be fought, and won or lost, without that. But when it comes to fighting for one's home and way of life, appearantly people are more than willing to sacrifice their own humanity for such things. The animal backed into a corner is the animal that fights most viciously.
Sunni predomintaely are the terrorists, but thats not to say everyone isn't involved. What factions predominantly support the terrorists? I've been somewhat confused by the whole Sunni/Shiite issue
Also a major difference, plus a reason for the split in sunni/shiite cause, is the leadership style. I don't quite remember which is which, but one believes that the leader should have absolute say in everything and the other says it should be more like a counsil. Thus making it a political split, not just religous.
I'm a heavy constuction equipment operator, which means I run bulldozers and bucket loaders and other such fun stuff. Deployment = standard 12-18 months. What excatly is your job over in Iraq? How long is your deployment?
Have funI'm currently a cadet at the Air Force Academy (beat Army!), and I've still got another year and a half before I get my commission. Who knows, I might find myself deployed soon after that.
Wake up! They aren't fighting for their way of life. They fight because they want political power for themselves instead of the other different sections leading them. Shiite= about 60% Sunni = about 20% Other = rest. Before the Sunni lead, even though they were a minority to the shiite, and they don't like it that their not wanted in control. They oprressed the shiite and now fight the fiercest because they know they have no hope of being in power as a minority. The shiite are the majority. They're tired of being oppressed and want to be the dominate power. The rest, mixed of many people, just want a place to stay. Mostly the Kurdish. They want a place to call home and a say in the government workings. But when it comes to fighting for one's home and way of life
EDIT:I probably got Sunni/Shiite confused. I always get those mixed up as well as everyone else out here. It's kinda confusing sometimes.
