Thread: Hardest boss

Man, that sounds ridiculously hard. Only if I could survive all his attacks, and he can't kill me after one hit, and my elixers last longer than his HP. If something doesn't hold, I think it would be impossible. This is actually how I fight Zeromus in FFIV. All my characters keep dying except for Cecil, so I just attack and use elixers.

My first time through: The Wall Monster. Why? Cause I never bothered to level up Aeris. I mean, shes weak as hell! And I didn't know what was to come. So I had to make a new game, since I tried everyway mortality possible. This time, I stayed in Wutai and leveled up to level 45. Whose laughing now, bastard?

(Emerald Weapon and Ruby? Hah, what kinda ? Too easy. Now if it was Nemesis type hard from FFX, then we'd have a prob here...)

Well... it's completely possible. I've defeated Sephiroth on the SCIENM play... which means I play with a solo character, the first and crappiest equipment and no materia at all. That's pretty hard. I've done it with both Vincent and Cloud. The wallring is very useful, a few hero drinks helps alot and 99 X-Potions is a must-have. I did this at level 70... however... with materia and good equipment it should be possible on lower levels. Sadness + backrow help you survive.

The trick to beating Demon's Gate (the wall monster) is to work on a strong defense before going at him with your offense. I'm accustomed to assaulting my bosses and taking them out in a round or two, if at all possible, but it would take some mighty leveling to be able to do this with the 'Gate (unless your Cloud happens to have Meteorain, and that's entirely possible).

Barrier & MBarrier help tremendously, and Haste also takes away some of your disadvantage - the 'Gate sometimes likes to attack several times in a row. The Mighty Guard Enemy Skill is perfect for this fight.

I know Rapps was an optional boss, but I thought he was super hard... I just kept dying with Aero 3. Anyway, of the not optional bosses, I'd say Carry Armor and Lost #. I died a few times with each of these guys. And Materia Keeper was no cake-walk either: TRINE SUCKS! For a lot of stuff I just use the Big Guard enemy skill and wail on them while I can and when it runs out, cast again if need be. Its seriously been a life saver on many occasions.
Seriously the ultimate combination... A moogle riding a chocobo... what else do I have to say?

You Are CHAOS; You are the supreme evil reigning in the land. You are large, in charge, and made all-powerful through a very confusing time-loop thing. Hidden in the past, you destroy the future from within, and a single battle with you could determine the fate of the planet...

I didn't have a problem with rapps at all, nor lost # or carry armor.

They tend to be difficult if you don't have really strong characters. If you don't hardly fight battles just to level up, Rapps is haaaard. But, on earlier playthrus I had either omnislash or meteorrain by then instead of Climhazzard, I think, so Rapps was easy. Also, this time I decided to use characters I haven't used much in earlier playthrus, like Cait Sith. I also used Cid. Well, that's hard, b/c it will take 4 limit breaks to kick Rapps's ass. Cid somehow lasted enough and was also able to use Booster and just barely beat him. Took me like 5 tries.

One reason I say that Rapps was hard is because I rely on Materia a whoooole lot. I don't attack much during battles unless its with Cloud.

So I am not used to battling with just attacking and using those crappy items on it.

I completely forgot about Lost Number...yea in my virginal playthrough he not only caused me trouble but made me Shii myself. The WORST boss (in relation to difficulty coupled with Level) was Proud Clod, what a big white elephant & just exactly WHAT was that Materia Jammer supposed to do? I never noticed it jamming anything...

Make sure all character are at level 80+, make sure they have maxed HP+ materia and 4-cut + ultimate weapons equipped. Also make sure to un-equip all un-neccecarry materia. Then just enter the battle, haste your party, protect with barriers, heal when needed and slash away with 4-cut and limmitbreaks. It's just as simple as that.

Beating Emerald and Ruby is just a matter of mass preparation (but some, like Ultima Shadow, can kick their arses with even an extreme handicap)

For both of them, my materia setup looked like this:

    - Knights of the Round (at least level 2 - mine was mastered) + MP Absorb in a linked slot. (one character)
    - Phoenix + Final Attack in a linked slot (both of which at at least level 2 - both of mine were mastered) (one character)
    - W-Summon (equipped on the same character with Knights of the Round + MP Absorb)
    - And I had every character equipped with a Mime materia (I fought a lot of Magic Pots) (all characters)

I also had each character equipped with two mastered Magic Plus materia, so each Knight did 9,999 damage, and when I W-Summon KOR and mime it twice, I dish out just under 750,000 damage in one round (and take down Emerald in under two full rounds; but Ruby likes to interrupt with a counter to KOR). However, in the case of Emerald, those two extra materia per character may be the thing that pushes Air Tram Stomp to cause enough damage to kill your characters. I'm not sure, because I kill him before he uses it. The extra 2,000 - 3,000 damage per Knight may not be worth it, because Emerald will fall relatively fast, anyway.

i think that carry armor (just before you get the submarine) is the hardest mandatory boss. and i think that emerald weapon is unbeatable
