Racial Shortsightedness

While doing a report for my sociology class, I developed a most interesting hypothesis, and now that the report is finished, I'd like a broader scope of views. Simply put, it seems to me that because certain programs have come into play that might be considered "reverse-racism", i.e. that favor minorities over the dominant race, as is often the case in humans the dominant race, i.e. whites, in this case, see only their own problems, and thus no progress is made. Meanwhile, all the other ethnicities see only their own particular plight and are, in essence, blind to the problems other racial groups encounter.

Obviously this isn't all encompassing, but it seems to me that such a thing is fairly widespread. What do you all think?

Indeed, that does seem an interesting theory. I agree that countering one form of racism with another does not equal progress whatsoever. Unfortunately, for some reason, there always seems to be a great majority that wishes for some degree of "revenge" so to speak or compansation to make up for the terrible mistakes of the past and until the hatchet can truly be buried, this cycle may well continue.

Once people can look beyond race, and see that we're all human, more alike than different, perhaps real progress can indeed be made.

Think of the LA riots in 1994 - was that not the result of years of intense hatred and jealousy among the huge black community for the commercial success of the smaller Korean community ? It's just petty jealousy and aggravation that stops the human race from making any progress towards better understanding of each other.

Umm I agree with El Capitan as always. It's sad that people can't move forward past all this, but I guarntee you there's multiple sides responsible for such, not just one (the extreme affirmative action-ish people) or the other (the racist bastards that dominate where I live).
