    Default Starship Troopers (not to be confused with the movie)

    I really enjoyed the BOOK Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein. It wasn't just your standard "Military coming of age" story but also talked about an interesting mode of government. It was quite well-written and didn't just rely on it's awesome technology. Also it was written in the late 50s so it is the prototype "Future soldiers in high-tech armor* story. It's unfortunate that people only know it by the ascinine movie.
