I type fast, with my fingers... almost on the right keys. I don't use my pinky fingers though, and rarely my ring fingers.
My dad types with just his index fingers... at like the speed of light. Its weird.

Trust No one
I can type decently fast, but since I'm usually thinking while I'm typing, I generally don't need to turn on the turbo boosters. I put both my hands on the keyboard and type with my ring, middle, and index fingers, using my thumb for the space bar and my pinky for apostrophes. I can type surprisingly fast and accurate while I'm not looking at the keyboard.
'Bout it.
I look down at the keyboard when I start typing, but once I start I don't need to look down again. I think I type at a decent speed, I type a lot faster than a lot of people I work with. But I make a few mistakes here and there, so I normally gotta go back and check what I typed.
Mr Thou! Mr Thou!
Once I got to ~140 wpm when I was taking keyboarding. It was just one sentence and I'd probably typed it about five times, but still.
I scare people when I decide to go whole hog when I type. But I haven't been in a keyboarding class for a while, so speed isn't really an issue. And I've gotten sloppy.
Before seventh grade I would type with two fingers. and still beat people at trivia games. on a modem. on a different server. but then I learned to type properly. Or more properly, rather.
Moderately fast. I never learned to type at a class so I look at my hands periodically. I can hit probably about 80 WPM when I'm typing computer code or text from my brain. If I'm transcribing, I get around 50 WPM.
I would say I'm a fairly speedy typist, with very few errors. I'm hailed as "The God of Literature" by a classmate...although that's complete BS, as he's far and away the smartest guy in our grade.![]()
I was a much faster typer when I was still in school. As it is now, I suppose I type around 40 to 50 wpm.
Typing faster from your head?
I find that harder because I keep having to revise what I say to get the right connotation for every word.
It's a lot easier to type something up, because the text is right there, and you just have to plug it into your fingers.
although if it's a rough draft and you're doing on the fly editing, it's harder-_-
I type faster than all of my friends do, but also do the following more than any of my friends:
- forum
- type papers
- spend hours writing HTML code
- write C++/PHP code (not so much, currently)
My grandma has type testing software on her computer, and whenever I go over there for family dinners or what have you, I usually sit there and mess around with that. I typically get 95-105 wpm average on tests.
In a real world situation, though, I probably average around 75 wpm or so.
I type at a decently fast speed. It's just thinking of what to type, where my mind wanders off...
"... and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written."
i think that i am a slow typer.

Apparently some people at #eoff think that I'm the fastest typer of anybody, specifically David. I was amazed when he was all like, "You don't want me to play because you know I'm the only one that can keep up with your fast typing." I thought the way I typed was fairly average amongst nerds.
I usually type about 150 WPM when I'm just typing from the top of my head, with occasional typos. When there is something there for me to type in front of me, I can generally get up to 170-180 range. I have the Wedgwood Middle School 3-minute timed typing record with 125 WPM that I set three years ago. It's never been broken. YAY!
