questions from disc 1-spoilers i guess?

Before aeries dies, why does the team keep chasing sephiroth? I mean the guy just wants to go to some place for fun.. I understand going after shinra but why go after sephiroth? I want to know why before he tells everyone that he wants to be god or something like that.

When aeries dies, that materia falls (or i assume its a materia since its a sphere and I read somewhere that its.. white magic or something like that), can you grab that orb or is it lost? If so, what magic is it?

So I thought Id be all cool by putting cover, counter attack-hp absorb. How come its not working, the hp absorb part?

Cait sith isnt really cait sith, he is actually someone over at shinra controling the stuffed animal (wait what about the cat on top, hes controling him too?)? Also, after they go to the temple of the ancients and they get the keystone and cloud gives sephiroth the black materia, how come they dont kick cait sith's ass or tell him to go away? He's a spy isnt he?!

Does cloud actually beat aries up right after he gives sephiroth the black materia? The camera was too far away and I couldnt tell.

First of all, Sephiroth wants to go to the "Promsied Land" and its not for fun. In fact, if he does succeed then the world will be destroyed basically, and the only way to protect the planet was the materia on aries' head which fell out.

It'll make a lot more sense as you play.

(Tifa runs around to him.)

Tifa
"Then this sword must be...!?"

Cloud
"Sephiroth's!!"

Tifa
"...Sephiroth is alive?"

Cloud
"...Looks like it. Only Sephiroth can use that sword."

Cloud
"Save the Promised Land? A good guy? No way!!"
"It's not that simple!! I know him! Sephiroth's mission is
different!"

Barret
"Well, what do we do now?"

Cloud
"Sephiroth is alive. I... I have to settle the score."

Barret
"And that'll save the Planet?"

Cloud
"...Seems like it."

That's the White Materia, or Holy, what Aeris was praying for to stop Meteor.

Cait Sith IS the cat on top. Not the Mog. And yes, he is being controlled by someone at Shinra.

(Cait Sith holds up a small radio. A tiny voice comes in over it.)

"Papa! Tifa!"

"Hey! That's Marlene!"

"Hey! It's the flower lady! Flower lady..."

(He turns it off.)

"...So, you have to do as I say."

"...you're the lowest..."

Cait Sith is always being controlled by Reeve, Head of Urban Development for Shinra. He created both Cait Sith 1&2 and controls them by remote control from Shinra Headquarters.
