That's probably one of the most amazing covers I've ever heard. I heard the Johnny Cash version first. When I was told that it was originally by Nine Inch Nails I could scarecly believe it, and when I heard the original I could scarcely believe they were the same song. The original sounds so... mediocre.

Eminem's covers of "Dream On," and "Toy Soldiers." What's wrong, Slim Anus? Running out of original material? You had to not only rip off Aerosmith, but you also had to rip off a one-hit wonder from Kids, Incorporated, too? No wonder you're going downhill.

Definately not the worst, I just didn't want to name the same ones everyone else has been saying. I just personally didn't like it, I thought the original was much better.

Anyone who is brave enough to stand against the worst cover of "How Soon Is Now?" ever recorded...look for a cover buy a guy named Harry Perry.

WARNING: May cause suicide/murder attempts.

Oh, as an aside: I once made a mix CD called When Good Songs Go Bad for a friend of mine, just to screw with him. I listed the song titles but not the artists. I included a lot of stuff previously mentioned, including the Britney Spears and All Saints covers. But he says he's going to skin me alive for Mariah Carey doing "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" by Def Leppard. Brrr...

Yes, in the moonlight she is even more beautiful...

I don't know who Bad Astronaut is, but anyone other than Elliott Smith would totally butcher that song.

I heard a "Murder" cover yesterday...Will Young has only gone and Coverd OutKast's "Hey Ya"!!!!!

It's too slow and nowhere near the origanal - And Only lines from "My baby don't mess around..." to "Nothing is forever" have been kept - The res is basically his own song! (And you should hear how he says "hey ya")

I dislike most covers that are to different to the origonal..It's better when there similar IMHO That way it atrats both sides...The old because it's a song they heard in the past revived - and the young becuase it's a new band that may get them into the song (They may have even liked the song first!)

Tainted Love (covered by Marilyn Manson) -- that song is so terrible even MM couldn't make it good.

Avril Lavigne... Chop Suey!... why, cruel Lord, why?! The link is broken, which is for the best... imagining is terrible enough. *prays for Avril's prompt, horrible death*
I am alive I will never run away Places inside My heart screams inside with pride Once I cried Now I wipe away the tears Once I died Now I'm alive

--Alive (Korn)

And we sneak a call And we're like thieves I love the times like these Just don't say goodbye Just won't you please I'm trying to do the right thing

All my life I was in the cold Now I find I feel nothing more Leave me to learn Leave me to hurt Now I'm not so invincible

Rye, when I saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought "I'm going to post for once, just so I can say how Avril Lavigne butchered my all-time favourite song."
Then I thought to post about her abomination of a Metallica impersonation too.

They are truly the worst covers of all time.

An Honourable Mention should go to Britney Spears' mockery of Joan Jett's "I love rock and roll" too.

I heard about her cover of a Metallica song. Someone told me her back-up band played it okay, but her voice killed it.

Everytime I think about Avril's covering "Fuel" or anything actually it takes a few strong drinks to drive the evil away.
Rules are made to break.

That sadly reminded me of... I dont know if it was a cover, but I know that it contained the same music... that song Puff Daddy did for Godzilla 2000, with the music from Led Zeppelin's Kashmir (and maybe the words, I dunno). So so sad. Kashmir is... beyond words in it's sweetness, and then Puff Daddy had to go screw it up... and damned Jimmy Page helped him. Dammit!

Although I'm a huge fan of Radiohead, I think their Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here cover was subpar.

I like Ben Folds, but his cover of Bitches Ain't (a 1992 Dr.Dre song) is horrible.

Is he even singing? He just says the words. Plus is voice makes the lyrics weak.
