This game is a bit "iffy", some people loathe this game while others love it, me, I love it. Some people thought the story line was lacking, but I liked it A LOT, wasn't the best but it was really good. Then there's Squall, he is just freaking awesome,he is easily one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters.
So, yeah I highly recommend it.

The itching sensation is a good thing.
It's awesome. I love FFVIII. I think it was shocker for some people after playing FFVII because it was all based around a love story, where as FFVII and FFVI were lacking in love story, but were full of other plots. FFVIII will throw you for a loop every second of your first play through.
VIII wins it for best storyline

yeah I'd definetly recommend buying it. Its not the best FF ever, but its definetly worth playing and having in your collection I think. Really enjoyable game, IMO
The story is TERRIBLE. It's like something a 5 year old wrote. Everything else about the game is great though. It's one of my favorites. Even though the story sucks majorly.

The mere fact that it is Final Fantasy means it is one of the best games ever made. Buy this game. Now. I love it and always will.

I like everything about this game except for the SeeD rank system. Although the idea of getting a regular paycheck is inspired, you easily get demoted (and get paid less) if you stray from the storyline.
I'm particulalrly found of the Guardian Forces.
