How to Defeat the Dark Flan?

This fiend appears in the caves just before reach Zanarkand, i had troubles defeating it, can anyone tell me the best way of kill it?
(i found more easy and quick to kill seymour that this thing).
Btw, what i have to use in the catuars to avoid them runing?

use break skills.. preferebly armor break and then u'r character will be able to damage him using u'r melee weapon.

I don't quite remember if other breaks works well...

Use magic break and armour break, then have Auron, Tidus and Lulu have at it. should work fine, does for me

Another way is use the Zombie attack by Auron and use a phoenix down or any curative spells/items.

Running works but if you want the exp. armor break will work

When you're fighting cactuars, it helps to use Quick Hit and Wakka. (Or, make Wakka learn Quick Hit, even better.) Quick hit will help you get more hits in, in case he dodges, and Wakka has accuracy up the wazuu. Or, you could use an overdrive, unless you were trying to capture it or save your overdrive or something.

And I haven't tried it, but could you kill one by using a grenade or something with Rikku?

With cactuars, it might just be superstition, but I always like to have wakka attack with a status inflicting attack. They *seem* like they hit more often.
