Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and The Lost Ocean

Has anyone else played this game yet? It's a Gamecube RPG by Namco (developer of Xenosaga). I saw someone playing a demo of it on a display at Walmart and I said "OMFG GAMECUBE TURNBASED RPG!?!?" so I gut it. I'm currently playing it, and at first I didn't like the battle system AT ALL, but now I'm growing rather fond of it. It's a fun game so far, and one of the few GC games spanning 2 disks.

I really liked the trailer, but when it came out, it just sort of passed me by. Heard the second disc is a lot better than the first. Figure I'll at least play it by the time the sequel comes out.

I love this game, almost as much as some Final Fantasys I've played. I might be a bit biased, because card based RPGs make generally make me wet my pants, but I think it has something to offer everyone.

The game is quirky, but in a good way. The voice acting is spectacularly bad; but to me, it's delightfully campy. The plot is a contrived mess, but I just take it as unique and engaging. There are sparkly backdrops and a fun battle system to keep you distracted from the rough edges, though.

So, yeah. I highly reccomend it.

It's okay... the whole magna thing is kinda unconventional and strange... the story is also SUPER SLOW... I haven't played it in a while since other games came out. I also really don't like the character designs... whose idea was it to make such ugly male and female leads? Plus the VOs are awful. I'm really hoping it'll pick up... the battle system is interesting, which is why I'm still gonna play it. It's not awful, but it's definitely not as good as say... Xenosaga (I or II). Also, anyone notice that the VOs sound like they're talking in a big metalic room? It's kinda strange.

To get rid of the "talking through a cardboard tube" effect, go to the menu and change the sound setting to 'Surround'.

There's supposed to be one in development for the DS. Anyway, I wanna try it, so I might rent it soon. Very soon...as in right now!
