Thread: Weapons for thief?

  1. #1

    Default Weapons for thief?

What weapons besides dagger are really worthwhile for a thief? I recently tried the hand-to-hand type, and got some really poor results next to my dagger...I want to branch out, but don't want to feel like i just lost 5 lvls in strength decrease...swords, maybe?

    I appreciate your feedback!

If you are soloing 1-15, then using hand-to-hand or a sword would be good.

Even to 20 or something hand-to-hand or sword is okay to use, but dagger is a Thief's signature weapon, AND YOU MUST USE IT OR ELSE!

    Have a nice day. ^_^

I'd recommend using daggers and having a ranged bow. That's probably just because of my RNG/NIN influence though.

At the lower levels, Daggers and Knives(who have piercing properties) are weak because their WS are low damage. Level up a Sword or a H2h weapon, because Sneak Attack Fast Blade and Sneak Attack Combo are a force to be reckoned with.

Around lvl 24, if you have NIN availible, sub NIN, and put Dagger onto the off-hand, so you can skill that up and put a Sword on your main so you still get the good WSs of a Sword. Around lvl 33 you might want to switch Dagger with your sword so you can use Viper Bite which will become your primary WS til Dancing Edge over lvl 60.

A bow is not necessary as a THF, a boomerang is enough to pull. Utusemi is recommended but not needed once you get NIN to sub because of the survival rate it gives you while pulling. If you dont sub NIN, WAR sub is fine, just be careful of long pulls and fast running mobs.

Were do you buy better daggers or can you only make them. Because I'm in Windurst and can't find any daggers for sale except the bronze dagger.
