Thread: Need some ISPs please!

    Default Need some ISPs please!

I just need a free ISP that will work long enough for me to download America Online onto my own computer. The ISP just needs to work for a short amount of time, nothing long term, because I just need to get AOL on my computer, and unfortunately I don't have any more free aol cds. Does anyone know what good free ISPs there are? Any help will do.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...ha... ha.. heh.

EDIT: No, seriously, I can not in good conscience help someone sully their computer with AOL. It would be like linking you to a virus, or goatse man, or a goatse virus. Just because that retard on TV slops chili and jello on a sandwich does not make it better.

    EDIT2: Hahaha.

    I agree fully

More seriously though, if you get such an ISP, what's stopping you using them instead of AOL? Why bother switch to AOL afterwards? Plus you haven't told us your country, because ISPs are different depending where you are.

Why not just borrow a friend's connection and burn to cd or chop it up to fit on floppies?

Because the previous two points have been very good.

    ("why on earth?! AOL?!")

The reason I was going for AOL is because my Dad already has an account for me on there and so I don't have to pay anything, free internet. I downloaded NetZero that will allow me to have 10 hours per month free or something like that, but I mean, how long does that last me. Anyways, nobody really helped me out with any free ISPs.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but you're currently online....

Absolutely. I'm currently on the crappy family computer. I need the free ISP for my own computer, which does not have internet access at this point, save for the 10 hour netzero thing.

    ...And?

I'm failing to see a problem, other than the fact you want to use AOL.

Umm..I'm looking for free ISPs? Umm.. I already asked if someone could help me in finding a good free ISP? UMMM.. Maybe I'd appreciate if you didn't look down on me as if my questions don't matter, and thinking any AOL user should be laughed at?

Why not configure *your* computer to use the connection/isp that you're using now?

Thank you for a suggestive, helpful post that couldn't be seen as any kind of insult.

The computer I am on as I type this uses SBC yahoo as its connection. Suppose I configured my computer to use SBC yahoo under the same username/password as this one, would there be an additional charge? More importantly, would both computers be able to connect to the internet at the same time using the same user/pw?

They have DSL and you have AOL? xD

Oh, man, must be painful going to your computer after that. That said, it's called a home network. Look into it. How close are the computers, how much are you willing to pay (one time cost for equipment, not a subscription)

Oh, SBC Yahoo also has a dialup. Erm, is it that? I wouldn't share that connection, no.

...if so, you have two outgoing lines that you use for internet?

If you have two seperate phone lines, you might as well bug your parents to pay the extra $15/month(this is only considering the phone lines - not the cost of the ISPs) and get cable.

There wouldn't be any other charges, unless there's an hour limit (I think usually dialup has it as about 360)

I don't *think* you can usually connect two computers to a single account even with two phone lines, and if you could it'd probably violate some TOU.

But it's been a long time since I tried to do that, and my memory's fuzzy. I think it got tangled up in the phone lines I had going all across the house

aside of that, you could always learn to share and or change sleeping hours and work hours to get internet time.
