Alright, my friend wants to get us an mmorpg to play, and we wanna try XI. However, I remember hearing things and I wanted them confirmed or denied before he pays for this.

I remember reading that, when you start a new account or whatever, you don't get to choose which server/world you're in, yes? So if the two of us start at the same time, we probably wont be playing together, right?

Yeah I've played WoW and I enjoy it. Our original choices are SW Galaxies and FFXI. Galaxies is out because we want tp be Jedi and dont want to invest 6 months to a year to become one. XI will probably be out, because I'm almost certain the answer to my question here will be yes.

I believe you can buy something called a Worldpass that either transfers your character or lets you start a new character on a server of your choosing(I suspect the latter). I don't know how much work is involved in getting one.

Yeah I know about the worldpass, but again I'm clueless as to when you can get one.

I'm sure one can be aquired from those folks who sell game items for real moneys, but I dont know if we want to do that. Or rather, if he does cause it aint my money and I dont care.

Theres a vender NPC that sells a world pass for GIL inside the game when you start.

nah i am sure if you ask around that someone will buy one for you, its not expensive and people in FFXI are really nice, i have a 75 BLM on FFXI and a 65 rogue on WoW, i would go with FFXI over WoW. WoW is really easy and takes out fun factor a lot, you have to work for what you get in FFXI so you have a lot longer and more playtime, hope this helps

Well, you don't really need a worldpass. Mik was supposed to get me one, but he was slow and I was kinda bored, so I deleted and made a character over and over again until I got on the same server as him. It'd be a lot easier if you just asked someone for a world pass though. I'm sure someone here would be gentle enough to get one for both of you.

The price of the WP depends on the number of people on the server.

A single worldpass can be used 5 times and it's relatively cheap to buy. So I'm sure any one of us can get you a worldpass to one of the servers we're on.

I play on both Asura (with Mik and Wyllius) and Pandemonium (with Misfit) so if you want to go to either server I can get a worldpass for you.

Add Alexander to the list, I usually have a mule in one of the towns so I can pick up a wp pretty quickly--and you only need one, because both of you can use it to get into the same server.
