Default War on Terror in Northern Ireland?

For the last couple of months, the IRA and Sinn Féin have come under huge pressure over the Northern Bank Raid and the murder of John McCartney. Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley are still bickering over politics and Bertie Ahern and Tony Blair are the two voices of reason in the whole sordid mess.

But do you think that America will ever be asked to directly intervene in Northern Ireland and bring the War on Terror there, military or otherwise?

America has allready been invloved by supplying the IRA with arms and money for the last 20 years along with lots of hand shaking in the white house.

America only gets involved when it suits them and right now i cant see anything of importance to them there.

America would never spend money, or supply troops, to "stop terrorism" if it didn't have some sort of benefeit to America. the "War on terror" is just a political catch phrase. It isn't real. It's just an excuse for America to gain control over certain regions in the world.

america's involvement right now is nothing less than hypocritical and sickening.

for years they supplied the ira through groups like noraid and gave them funding to kill british citizens and it's army and this was all known and to america it was all one great big laugh. ted kennedy himself openly said he supported the ira.

so now after america has been attacked they do a u-turn because of their own self-pity and greed. before it was okay to support the murder of citizens of your greatest ally now after a few thousand of their own dead it now isn't okay to support that kind of thing anymore.

it's a testament to america's new obsession with terrorism and it's constant problem with it's own morality (it has none).

No. Frankly theres a difference between them bringing a war on terror to Iraq and bringing a war on terror to Ireland. A huge difference. Plus America was under attack in the present war on terror. This war has nothing to do with them. Plus England can look after themselves. Sinn Fein have nothing to do with the original protests for Ireland to rules itself rather than england ruling it from years ago. They are extremists and the general Irish public is about as fond as them as England.

Untill the IRA stands for the Islamic Republican Army, the US won't lay a finger on them. Bush only wants to destroy Islamic terrorists. It's the Crusades, not the American Revolution. Europeans have nothing to fear.
