You can D/L Americas Army for free I think.
As for RPGs, all I know are Runescape and Adventure Quest...

There is a place where you can legally download the PC version of Phantasy Star Online, and a free server for it. But it's alot of work to get it to work right. I'd do it but my PC can't play it without crashing when I get to the Teleporter to Ragol.

If your looking for something less cartoonish, try KalOnline it looks like Dynasty Warriors online XD I really suggest this, its a very well balanced game, and fun to play! lvling might be a little bit slow, but its not a problem. Its completely free with no plans to go p2p, cause they only charge people if you want to buy really rare items. ^_^

The DC version of PSO Ver.1 was free, but Ver.2 was 5 dollars a month, playing it on a DC won't work concidering Seganet is dead.

lol, well i dono too much about it... I only started a week ago, and I happen to like rose because of how smooth everything works (camera graphics ect)
But KalOnline is still great.
There isn't much you can do when you first start, cept get used to it. lol
You can do a few quests by talking to NPCs and you can lvl up... the game gets better once you reach lvl 11 cause then you can do more.
Basically, when you first start, you can use the number keys as hotkeys use skills (if your a magician...) dont know much about the other classes right now though ^_^;
I've been playing ROSE a lot longer, and it seems neither area perfect, it just depends on what your looking for. Kal probably wont go p2p, but rose will. After playing Kal for a while, I crave the smother camera angels and smoother graphics of ROSE... Kal is nice cause its not so childish lol and there is PVP and PK ^_^;
