I always found this an interesting note....
In most states, if you were to murder a pregnant woman and they are unable to save the baby, you are charged with two murders--you took the life of the woman; and you took the life of her unborn child.
In all states, if a mother decides to have her kid killed, she can take it to a doctor and have it done with no repercussions whatsoever.
An unborn child is one of two things--either a) it is a human being, and therefore entitled to all the inalienable rights bestowed upon every human being by our Creator, or b) it is simply a wad of cells, an unviable mass of tissue that has no more rights than a tumor. If it is a human being, killing it is murder. If it is not a human being, killing it is simply a medical procedure.
And that decision--whether or not he or she is a human being--is made solely on the basis of whether that child's mother wants him or her to live.
History gives us dozens of examples, of when people have decided that one class of people or another were not human in order to make it easier to do horrid things to them--none of these examples are good ones.
