Do I need all of the latest expansions to play?
How stable would a dial-up connection be to play?

The hour of our departure has arrived, and we go our ways - I to die, and you to live. Which is better God only knows.

Dial up is dependant on your ISP, but should be no less stable in theory than Cable.
You should get the Pack htat includes all but ToA expansion, it will be fine with the first two.
Can you get a divorce? If so, how?
How do you pronounce Vana'diel? I've always pronounced it van (like the vehicle) uh-deal...van-uh-deal. But maybe its vana (like the end of nirvana) deal. Which is it?
Are there any updates on the "Vana'diel collection" DVD or do I have to download every single update/patch since day one?

You cannot get in-game divorces.
In the opening movie the narrator pronounces Vana'diel so just listen for it.
Updates are downloaded as they come. So yes, certain days you will need to wait and download updates/patches before you can log into the game.
I'm appealing to the higher powers indirectly here, as this is where I'll find the CKs who would agree with such a suggestion.
That aside, I would like to put forth a motion to enstate a law prohibiting complaints about monthly fees. The punishment is up to the administration, but I would suggest that it be a 2-week suspension from the Final Fantasy XI Online forum on the first offense, and a perma-ban on the second.
Hell, why not go all out and make a "guide to not getting banned from this forum" like Eyes on Each Other has?
Please?
Can you play 2 characters at the same time... like I first have a Blm/Rdm and a Wrr/Mnk and play them at the same time?
Not if they are on the same account, you need two different games and two consoles to play them. like 2 computers or 2 PS2 or 2 Xboxes or any combination of the three.
EDIT: I updated the FAQ. Added alot of these questions to it.

Yay a huggle *gives one back* ^^ Its np at all, these videos are uber helpful(and funny) if not a lil nostalgic for anyone starting out.
I am reading your first post, as for getting FFXI, most do it by mail order or by EB Games, another good place would be SE's own site itself: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/intro/shop.html
For system looking: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/env...tml?pageID=win I honestly dont know if Benchmark is even accurate anymore.

Anytime! <3 I still had RedLotus on Dawnstar when I had a character on your server >_> I recently deleted her because starting over from scratch almost threw me into a depression.

Hey, I just got this game, and I have Vista. I'm not done installing it quite yet, but it was AWFUL!
You have to download a patch and stuffs, and I hear there's still some bugs, but I think you should add this:
Clicky
You need it to run the game on Windows Vista.
...HEY! At least Vista looks pretty cool.
But it costs money to play
*gets stabbed in the eye and runs around screaming and bleeding*
