You are not expected to actually beat him. However, I've heard of some people beating him occasionally using a high-level character with the Genji Glove and Offering; probably using a character that can wield the Illumina and the Atma Weapon. And hope that you get to attack first.

I'm not sure what his HP is. But I've heard it has been done.

I don't really see much point. You can beat Siegfried, though.

Beating Chupon is a waste of time (though yes, it can be done through a very tough character and a lot of luck), given the prize you win.

Yeah, I think it was an elixer or something.

I've beaten Chupon once, but I have fought him dozens of times. Basically, I got Celes to level 70 by taking her into the dinosaur forest by herself, Equipped her with Illumina, and gave her W-magic and an economizer. You win an elixer as a prize, but elixers are kind of pointless when you have a character at level 70.

If you're interested in Elixirs, they can easily be stolen from Peepers on Solitary Island.

Ah. But we're not interested in Elixirs. We want to be able to say, "Why yes. I have beaten Chupon."

Not that I have any answers to the question. Looks like it's been said.

Since Elixirs are what Chupon bestows, this is an easy alternative for getting them. As to Chupon, the Genji Glove/Offering set-up is the only thing that ever worked for me.

It isnt a bracket tournament. Everything you offer will change your opponent, but if you offer crap (like potions, for instance) you'll fight Chupon. Try betting a good weapon or peice of armor, then your opponent will change. Make sure you save first, so you dont lose anything important.

I'm sure you could look around on the interner and find a Coliseum Guide--what you bet, what you fight, what you win. There are plenty of 'em out there. Or, if it's not too much trouble, you can go to the menu (in FF6, not the SNES version) and they have a Coliseum Guide there. That might not be until after you beat it, though...

The Chupon + Elixir combination is the standby for all those weapons/armor/accessories for which Square didn't bother to create an enemy + item combination in the colosseum.

There are easier ways to get elixirs, so players insist on fighting Chupon for much the same reason as they do the likes or Ruby/Emerald/Omega etc. Though, they actually give you something valuable.
