Why is it that Final Fantasy IX is getting the least attention?
Sorry to butt in people, but I want to ask for your opinions.
Actually, there is one thing that is making me sort of... err... irritated. It's about the fact that Final Fantasy IX is a great Final Fantasy game, but always get the least attention!!!!
Well, I've been visiting some sites, and this is what I noticed. Final Fantasy IX always gets the least attention when it comes to reviews, previews and fanfics (www.fanfiction.net)!!!
Why is it that way?

FFIX is my fav. i love it soooooooooooo much!
FFVII and VIII get more coverage because they were the first two to REALLY go mainstream. and FFX-XII are the newer ones. unfrotunatly IX is kinda stuck in the middle.

If nothing else, FFVII and FFVIII have sex appeal going for them. FFIX has nothing to offer in that regard. Square certainly gave it a shot with Beatrix's huge rack, but there's no getting around the fact that everyone in the game looks like a deformed eight-year-old.

Well, maybe you have a point about the 'sex appeal' but what about Garnet? Isn't she hot, too like Rinoa or Tifa or Aeris or Yuffie or Selphie or whatever? And what about Zidane? He's like, hot (except for the tail, though!) like Cloud and Squall!
Anyways... you DO have a point.....

plus that the main characters were really young! zidane and garnet are 16.which i think is a little too young really.

FVII and MAYBE FFX deserve the attention for being great games. 8 doesn't deserve any at all. Its the second worst FF (Beaten, of course, by FFV) I truely do love this game. But your right, it has no sex appeal, and its more for the old schooler because its more medieval than previous titles. Of course, I think FFT is really the one that gets the least attention.
Well in my country you can´t get that game anywhere as new and used ones cost too much.
When I started to look that game I asked some game shops and netshops but none of them had new ones.
So I tried used ones, but game shops didn´t have those either and same in netshops. I finally found some in auction in net and I got it. It is used,but works. It´s all that matters.
In that auction site ff9 game is sooooo wanted game that you must pay atleast 30€ of it and it´s of course used one.
So in my country that game is very valued and wanted. Those games aren´t that long in sale and they go very fast in high prices.
But it´s quite interesting that it´s not noticed that much. Though many people say that it´s one of the best ff-games ever.

Until I read his biography, I always thought Zidane was at least 22. And Garnet seems to be about 18 or 19 even though she's 16

Spikey Hair, Big Swords, Teen Angst, Moody Characters, I could go on.
ffvii will always get coverage for being such a great game, plus it revolutionized everything and brought ff mainstream. ffviii will always get coverage because ppl will always be complaining about it. ffx will always get the coverage because, like ffvii, is a great game and helped bring ff even more into the mainstream. plus, from my experience, it's one of those games where u either love it or hate it, and to be indifferent is rare. but i feel ffix gets left in the dust because it was 'just' a game. it didn't make headlines. all it did was provide us with a good game, nothing more, nothing less. i personally enjoyed it a lot
Actually, to a lot of people, FFIX was an extremely big deal. FFVIII made it look like Square had completely lost track of what it was supposed to be doing, and FFIX let us know that they realized we were concerned and wanted to let us know that they still care about their roots. It was basically a love letter to all the fans of the older games in the series. If FFIX had been another game like FFVIII, or even a game like FFX, Square would have lost a ton of fans.
Two words ...
FFIX ROCKS.
