This week commemorates the 60th anniversity of the Liberation of Holland from the Nazi power. Canadian troops fought ardently through the wet and boggy terrain, to fight to free these people, who have been subjected to the cruelities of tyranny. Many Dutch have died of famine, and the relief that our Canadians troop brought lead the Dutch to be very greatful. Each year they send hundreds upon hundreds of tulips to Ottawa. Celebrations will be going on through the Netherlands, bringing the remaining troops of the liberation party to fly to Europe and enjoy the celebrations.

The reason I am aware of this, is of an awesome experience I had. Students from Holland wished to have footage of interviews of soldiers who were in Holland at the time. They contacted our school, and me and three other students were chosen. The stories they told are touching, showing strenght and valor.

I am posting this to remind us that we are not always free, and sometimes, like this there is great sacrifices made for freedom. Freedom that we should celebrate, and sacrifices that we should never forget.
