im glad they are letting that lady jsut go. i mean, i wouldnt want to be in a veggie state for 15 years. its time for them to move on. The parents are just holding on. And besides, they have been stepping outside of their legal boundries for too long. let the woman go and die in piece. And yes its possible to survive for quite a period of time without food or water. 11days is a long time ,but people have gone that long before and have jsut suffered servere dehydration.
The only sad thing is about this is that she is stuck in the middle of this silly fued that should have ended 3years ago.
Sarcasm is a wonderful thing, that is, when it's used in good taste. Your "joke" was made in poor taste. There are ways of helping move the process along quicker, or even doing it themselves, and it is painless. Ever gone a day without eating? It is not painless. Imagine not eating for weeks...Originally Posted by lordblazer

She can move, look around and blink. She could be aware of what's going on and they just want to pull the plug and let her starve to death. Just let her die when she's ready to go. She's not causing any harm..![]()
Actually, I don't think he was joking.Sarcasm is a wonderful thing, that is, when it's used in good taste. Your "joke" was made in poor taste.
She moves around and looks around involuntarily. She is brain dead, and science has pretty much proven that she has no idea what is going on. These are all involuntary movements. She doesn't smile anymore, she moves her mouth. She doesn't look at people, her eyes just happen to move in that direction. It's not like she's going to live for a long period of time when your brain damaged. She's in a persistent vegetative state. She can't feel pain. The entire front half of her brain is gone - nothing but spinal fluid. The courts have ruled 21 times, with over 30 judges, that Terri made it clear in life that she would want to die, and that her guardian, Michael, has the right to make the final decision.
30+ judges know a helluva lot more than I do.
Well, she's harmless and if everyone feels she needs to die, then so be it. If she can't do a damn thing thing then might as well, let only productive people live, though it''s not like she's going to live much longer!![]()
Actually, you can last for a couple weeks without water, if you're in a moisturized, air conditioned environment (hospital) and doing almost nothing (lying in a vegitative state or a coma- and the two ARE very different).
But, I've said it before and I'll say it again. "If I'm ever in such a condition, end it. I don't care if you have to strangle me with your bare hands, don't leave me like that. Please, for the love of everything good, don't."

The body moving has nothing to do with having a functioning brain. As already stated, the body involentarily twitches, Even after we are dead. There are stories of bodies poping up and moving alittle(while in the morgue) because electical impulese that still get sent around. But the body and brain are very much dead.
Im sorry, but "veggie state" turns a serious situation into a frickin' hilarious one! (Am I the only one that found humor in that?)i mean, i wouldnt want to be in a veggie state for 15 years. its time for them to move on.
A bit of devil's advocacy...
From what I understand, Terri's parents are willing to take over all responsibility (financial and otherwise) for Terri's care and release Michael Schiavo of his obligations. In return, they're simply asking for their daughter's life.
I don't think Terri ever made it clear that she wouldn't want to live in such a state and I suppose her parents are just trying to err on the side of caution.
So yeah, I can definitely why Terri's parents are fighting as hard as they are. I mean, it's their daughter. If were faced with the same dilemma, I'd like to believe that I would be strong enough to let my daughter pass away. But who knows, maybe if it really came down to it, I'd cling on and refuse to let go.

To basically quote Raistlin from the other thread, this woman died 15 years ago, her body just hasn't realized it yet. I hate to sound heartless, but I seriously hope she dies tomorrow. This was never the whole damn country's business and the sooner she dies the sooner everyone will get their noses out of it. And the sooner those ret... I mean, protestors outside her hospice will go home. Although it is kind of funny watching them get arrested.Originally Posted by . . ., well, me, in the other thread about this
This whole thing about her is sickening and makes no sense to me. I think she needs to die, her family needs to die, and everyone connected to the situation in any way along with the protestors need to die. Then the world's memory needs to be erased with one of those things from Men in Black.
I like Kung-Fu.
She is braindead... the family takes hours on hours of video, asking the same questions over and over, and finally, when they get a certain response, that is what they hand over to the media. Those actions are all reflexes, and many specialists have said she is brain dead. take out her feeding tube, she's dead.
We should have Congress pass a law to make "pulling the plug" more humane, she shouldnt have to starve to death. So other than that i dont think she should be suffered to live anylonger. Im gonna have to get that put in my will now that ive seen this "episode" unfold, i want their to be no question about my wishes.
