There is also a continuing, unresolved debate about whether (SPOILER)Cloud and Tifa actually made love on the hilltop, during that scene at the end of disc two when everyone has left the Highwind. I choose to believe that they didn't, but my opinion is as valid as anyone else's.

Seeing as how the way that scene plays out is as dependent on the choices the player has Cloud make as the date scene in the Gold Saucer earlier in the game, the debate concerning it really shouldn't have endured as long as it has.

If one has him be extremely nice to even relatively nice to Tifa, the scene will play out in a manner that would potentially suggest they had sex, however, the scene isn't static. It can be different. If the player doesn't have Cloud's affection level with Tifa be really high, a good deal of the affectionate dialogue is removed. With that in mind, I wouldn't characterize the scene with the suggestion as canon. There really shouldn't be a debate about this scene any more than there should be a debate about who Cloud's date in the Gold Saucer was really with.
