Best Sonic the Hedgehog game

What would you say?

Mine would be Sonic CD for the SegaCD/Mega CD. The soundtrack was awesome, the levels were huge, the levels were massive in amount, Metal Sonic, plus I think it was the darkest of the Sonic Storylines. The special levels on it kicked ass.

Theyre all the same to me which makes them all pretty good. I could never get past the first world, maybe make it to the second but never past that.

Sonic CD actually has shorter stages than the games in the main series do, but it has much more going on within that limited space. And the fact that you can view each stage in the past, present, future, or good future lends them longevity as well.

I'd say the best one is either Sonic the Hedgehog CD or Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles.

From the Sonic games I've played I say Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the best. I though it was great game and I liked the special stages with the weird tube-like things.

I really like Sonic Adventure 2 Battle a lot... however... Sonic 3 will always remain my fav. It's simply awesome in every way... even though I really hated the Circus levels... =/

I never really got into the 2D Sonics, I'd say SA2: Battle, because I loved the music.

I liked the second. Chemical Zone or whatever is a lot more fun to play than whatever the first game's second zone was.
