I think some news reporters interpreted this wrong

"The Pope's vicar said the pontiff was already "at one" with Jesus Christ."

thats why they think he is already dead

You can tell when it happens because they then burn the balllots and you can see the smoke coming out from a very specific chimney.

    And then there is Death

    Same here.
He has not yet left this world, but he's prepared to do so. He's undergone the Catholic equivalent of the Last Rites, and has refused to be admitted to hospital...
A sad time. He's been a good leader of the church for a long time now.

I don't agree with the Catholic religion, but anyone's death is sad so it's pretty unfortunate.

No matter what you believe, every sensible person will agree: Pope John Paul II was a great man. I doubt we will see magnanimity such as this in a leader for a long, long time.

Edit: What if this was the Vaticans idea of an april fools prank?

Regardless of what one thinks of his proclamations, Karol Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II) has led a remarkable life and has been at the forefront of numerous efforts to make the world a better place. Although it seems many here disagree with his often conservative social outlook, the Pope has striven to reach out to all those in need, and has brought about great change in the Catholic Church. Although there is room to disagree with some of the things he has said in the past, Pope John Paul II has truly been a force for peace and love in the world, which is something I don't think anyone will want to disagree with.

With all due respect, this thread was created in order to pay respect to the man. I would ask that this "April Fools" discussion on the matter be discontinued.
