Help with Chocobo Breeding
Is there anything that determines the gender of newborn chocobos, or is it just random? I just breeded a male blue chocobo and am trying to get a green female one. After about 7 or 8 tries, I've ended up with a green male every single time. Is there anything I can do to alter this?

The best way is to save just before you breed the chocobo. Then, if you get the wrong sex, restart your system and try again.

I've heard it suggested that the genders of the good and great chocobo parents determines the offspring's color. However, I've gotten both sexes and colors from the same breeding pair. One seems to be rarer than the other though.
If you have space you might want to capture another pair of good and great chocobos. That way you can breed both blue and green chocobos simultaneously.
That's what I've been doing. The problem is that no matter how many times I do it, I seem to get the exact same result. I was just wondering if this has simply happened by chance or if I need to do something different. It just seems odd because I'm not only getting the wrong chocobo, but consistently getting the same wrong chocobo.

If you keep at it and using soft reset if you get a bad result, eventually you'll get what you want by chance.
I remember in my second playthrough I had a green female but it took me so many tries to get a blue male, when I finally got one, I named him Lucky.
There! It finally worked. But goddamn, it took me about 15 tries.

the Black Chocobo is a pain int ehr arse but the Gold well Holy [img]/xxx.gif[/img][img]/xxx.gif[/img][img]/xxx.gif[/img][img]/xxx.gif[/img] is the phrase for its difficulty

I find all of this rather odd, I never had much difficulty in breeding my chocobos. Even Gold didnt take me long.
Seriously, and I've gone through the whole process lots of times. There's nothing easier.
I would have to agree with the last two posts.
its easy to get green and blue but it gets harder to get the right chocobo genders and types for the gold and black which took me 2 days to breed
