    Default Alan Shearer's Decision

so what do you think about Newcastle United's Alan Shearer making his decision to play on another season?

personally it will give him alot more time to score them last goals and hopefully a chance to win a trophy with his team

personally i think he's going to make a great manager though in about 5 years time he'll probably be better than Souness and get the Team up instead of way down then slowly up but his decision is done and no one can change it

as a Newcastle Fan I'm Glad he's staying on but he does need to go sometime and make room for other aces

what about that young player James Milner with alot more practice he could surpass Jenas and Dyer he's just nervous really

well what are your says on this decision?

    After today's bust-up, he's probably wishing he'd left earlier.

    I can't say i'm bothered either way.

On the managment front. Not all great players make good managers. You may think having a club favourite as manager will turn things around, but it dosn't mean it will. Look what happened at Spurs, with Glenn Hoddle.

but Shearer has shown that he's capable of doing it

Dyer and Bowyer are going to get so done in by Souness and the rest of the club even the FA itself

i remember having a footie sticker book in 1995. shearer was in it then!
i think that he should just stay to the managering, not playing.

cool! i just made a logical football conclusion! io rock!

    191 goals throughout his career

getting back up stronger after heavy injuries

remember when he was injured so bad he missed a whole season?
after that he came back better than ever

he has a strong ambition to help the club win a trophy so thats enough showing capability

shearer sucked when he was at Blackburn though
so did Given (and we got him for free aswell OMG!)
but i bet the rovers are gutted for letting them go

Shearer was the best striker in the Premiership at Blackburn, helping them win the league in '95. As for Rovers being gutted for letting Shearer go... probably, as it lead to them being relegated, but they still got a nice £15 million for him. Newcastle easily got the better deal though.

Bowyer is even worse than Bellamy!

even though Bellamy lost it more

You know Souness is actually doing a very good job. Despite my abhorrence for the man, his run of recent results has been impressive, the team are in 2 semi finals for the first time in nearly 30 years and the way he dealt with Bowyer and Dyer was incredibly commendable. I'm starting to warm to the guy.

NM is right though. Great players don't make great managers all the time, especially at the club they plied their trade with. Another good example is Souness at Liverpool!

I'm pleased Shearer is staying, though I have no intention of supporting Newcastle in any comeptition...

If Shearer thinks that continuing to play can help Newcastle then good for him, although it may hinder the development of younger players trying to get a look in.

Personally, however, I want Spurs to win convincingly on Sunday.

Shearer's staying? Yay! He'll be good for Newcastle, and it's not like he's slumped so very badly in his footy, yet. Has he? o_O I didn't really watch until like, the last World Cup.
This subliminal message could be meant for YOU. But it's probably not. Move along ;D
